A small team led by chief instructor Mr Walkinshaw headed to the Elite Taekwon-Do Scottish Championships in Dalkeith on the outskirts of Edinburgh on Sunday 8th June 2014 hoping to bring home some silverware.
Leading from the front Mr Walkinshaw was first onto the mats and set the standard by winning Silver in Senior Black Belt Patterns.
Not to be outdone by her father, Miss Lyndsay Walkinshaw also won Silver in 3rd Degree Patterns, competing for the first time in the adult section.
This left our 2 colour belt competitors to match their instructor’s achievements. They did not disappoint.
Green Belt, John Wilson battled his way through several rounds in both patterns and sparring, narrowly missing out on the gold by a split decision and managed to win Bronze in both events.
Now came our newest competitor, entering his first ever competition, Red Stripe, Connor Bettley eclipsed all expectations by winning Gold in both patterns and sparring events, including winning by a technical knockout in his first competitive fight.
Another superb set of results for Team Blue Dragon and now we set our sights on the Unified ITF English Championships in September.
