Three of our finest members entered the UKITF British Championships 2013 and have returned from the with another fantastic haul of medals.
Leading the way on the first day of competition was Craig Jones in his first ever competition, securing a Bronze medal in Patterns and a Silver in Sparring. Not to be outdone, our young European Champion Emily Oakes competed with the older girls for the first time and matched Craig’s medals also winning a Bronze for Patterns and a Silver for Sparring, securing vital ranking points to retain her place in the national squad.
On day 2 Miss Oakes was back in the ring again, this time competing in her own age categories and won another 2 medals but going one better this time with a Silver in Patterns and Gold in Sparring to once again become British Champion to add to an already impressive list of titles from this and previous years. However, things were not finished there as we had one more competitor taking part on the second and final day of competition. Martin Jones from Winsford (Craig’s older brother) was tasked with maintaining the 100% record from our competitors and he did it in some style winning Gold in Patterns and Gold in Sparring while narrowly missing out on a third one in special technique, returning home as double British Champion.
Another excellent weekend for our club superstars.
So 3 competitors entered and came back with:
3 Gold, 3 Silver & 2 Bronze
